Save Ginglik

First attempt at mutimedia ties in nicely with a worthy cause.

Was at Ginglik, a venue in Sheperds Bush, last night. Staff and DJs (including DJ Stayhome) were protesting about the planned closure.

They claim the council has £3.3m (given by Westfield – the new shopping centre in Shephers Bush).

However, the council says it does not have the £300,000 needed to make Ginglik structutally sound. Currently there are water problems.

It has an interesting history. Ginglik is housed underneath Sheperds Bush Green – and in former public toilets.

And reports in Time Out a few weeks ago mentioned that the former ownrer of another former-public toilets venue (called Public Life!) may become involved with some kind of rescue bid.

Whatever the outcome, I hope it manages to keep going, as the protests last night proved that the locals want to keep it, and it’s a great venue for music and comedy and a lot more…

Facebook group here, called Save Ginglik.
